A Summer to Remember – Our 25 year School Reunion - Class of 2001
This summer, we had the wonderful opportunity to come together again for our 25th year school reunion, bringing together old friends from near and far. People travelled from all over the world, many with their families, to be part of a very special day. It was a reminder of the lasting friendships and shared memories that connect us, no matter how much time has passed or how far life has taken us.
It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces again, catch up on each other’s lives, and hear about the different paths everyone has taken since our school days. Just as special was the chance to meet everyone’s partners and children, and to put faces to the names.
The reunion was a relaxed, informal affair, held on the school’s astro turf on what turned out to be a hot summer’s day. The atmosphere was easy-going and cheerful, with bouncy castles for the children, while some played rounders and football. Thanks goes to Capriciosa Restaurant for providing their food truck to keep everyone fed and hydrated, and the ice creams were particularly welcome in the heat! There was something lovely about seeing everyone simply enjoying themselves, with no formalities or pressure, just good company, laughter and plenty of catching up. It was a delightful day and the school looked stunning - thank you St. Julian's for the support and representation from Paul Morgan (Headmaster) and Matilde Paiva (Alumni Relations).
It was also a real pleasure to see some of our former teachers, including Mrs Pereira, Mrs Fenner Leitão, Mrs Lobato, Mrs Cardoso. Remarkably, they seemed not to have changed at all! Even better, they still remembered us, which was both impressive and rather reassuring. It was a lovely reminder of the important role they played in our lives and of the memories we continue to share from those school years.
Perhaps the best part of the day was realising that, despite the years that have passed, so much of the connection remains. We may have changed, built careers, raised families and travelled the world, but coming together again brought back a familiar sense of friendship and belonging. For a few hours, it felt as though we had picked up where we left off.
A huge thank you to everyone who travelled so far to be there and to those who helped make the day happen. It was a wonderful celebration of old friendships, shared history and the school that brought us all together. Here’s to making more memories, staying in touch, and hopefully not leaving it quite so long before we all meet again!
